Various Facilities provided at our college

The College library has a large collection of books dedicated to the streams of Arts, Science, Commerce, Computer Science, Mass Media, Management Studies, Accounting and Finance and Banking and Insurance. More than 75 periodicals are subscribed to by the college library.
The college Library has following sections - Reference, Periodical and News paper and General Reading Section.
The College Library has various encyclopaedias, bibliographies, biographies, travel guides, yearbooks, Constitution of India, Report of Mahajan Commission, almanacs, annual reports, development reports. Number of subject related & recreational periodicals and general reading books are made available for the students.

The library provides textbooks to economically backward and backward class students under the Book Bank Scheme. Every year, approximately 300 students avail of this facility. Students may contact the librarian for membership of the Book Bank Scheme. The Last date for enrolment is 31ST July.

The first 20 merit holders from each faculty are honoured with a scholar card which entitles them to two additional reference books for home issue from the Library.

The college has an internet club that every student can avail of. The College has subscribed to N-LIST (National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content) by which students can access 7500 ebooks and 2700 e-Journals. The College has created Women Knowledge Center under UGC 11th plan scheme wherein 25 computers with internet connectivity are made available to the girl students.

The college has well equipped and spacious laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Information Technology and Computer Science for undergraduate and post graduate courses. There is an English language laboratory.

Every Student is insured for a maximum limit of Rs.1 lakh by paying a nominal premium of `80/- per academic year. It covers accident and death.

In addition to academic pursuit of the students, there are associations, clubs and groups, which conduct programmes, seminars and workshops for overall development of students, including leadership qualities and social awareness. Such activities are organised through the following:

A teacher convener or programme officer, who is assisted by other teaching staff, heads the Association, Club, Group or Organisation. The convener or the programme officer, involve the students to develop various skills. The Art Circle conducts various competitions to encourage students to participate in the annual social gathering, ‘Utopia’ (Degree College), ‘Indradhaunu’ (Junior College), intercollegiate events, state and national level competitions organised by the University of Mumbai.
The college gymkhana provides facilities for indoor and outdoor games. The college encourages the students to participate in intercollegiate events at district and above levels, by providing specialised coaching facilities. The students who prove their merit are considered for scholarships.

N.S.S. :
The National Service Scheme unit provides opportunities to students to participate in various urban and rural projects. Its objective is to train students to understand educational, socio-economic, health and hygiene problems of weaker sections of the society and to inculcate in them social awareness, a sense of belonging, fellow feeling and love for hard work. Enrolment in N.S.S. is strictly by selection. The N.S.S. unit of the college is well recognized by the university and the government agencies.

N.C.C. :
The college has approved NCC units (Boys and Girls) for degree as well as junior college students. There are plenty of activities, lectures, drills and camps conducted throughout the year to foster the motto of NCC i.e. ‘Unity and Discipline’ in cadets. They also get an opportunity to participate in the Republic Day Parade.

The Civil Defence units of both Sr. and Jr. College train students to render their services to civilians during a crisis. The students also appear for Basic Certificate Examination.

The fund is utilised to provide assistance to the needy and deserving students and to provide necessary equipments and other facilities for all round development of the students.

The above cell works to provide job opportunity to the students. Seminar and guidance letures are regularly arranged for enlightening students about various career courses and information about availability of job. Interested students are trained to become coaches for sports and gym instructors. In return the college offers them an honorarium.

The centre conducts workshops for creative arts and performing arts e.g. dance, dramatics, music (vocal), personal grooming, painting, handicraft making, rangoli, baking and culinary skills etc. Special training is given to develop anchoring skills.

The students can avail aptitude/interest /adjustment tests provided by the career guidance and counseling cell of the college. The Counselor, Mr. Shishir Lele is incharge of the cell for junior college and Ms. Seema Ketkar for senior college.

The Women Development Cell works with the objective of helping girl students in need. The cell deals with sexual harassment at any level, stress and any kind of trauma. Students in need of counseling are requested to meet the following teachers :


Ex-Students of the college have formed the alumni association. The T.Y. Students after appearing for the final examination become members of the association. They meet twice in a year and 25th December is regarded as Alumni Association Day.

Y.C.M.O.U. :
Extension Activities: The college is a centre of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University. Students are enrolled for B.A. & B. Com. courses. Working students and housewives can take advantage of this facility.
