Bachelor of Mass Media is a Three Year Undergraduate cource conducted by Mumbai University in the year 1999 -2000. The course commenced with a clear intention of fulfilling the need of trained students in the media industry. This course is project based and industry focused and hence is quite popular among students. Though it consists of many theory papers each semester, assignments, projects, industrial visits and internships are a part and parcel of this course. The BMM department has many visiting faculties from academic field as well as media industry, bringing in the practical nuances from their fields. As the course deals with the masses, it covers a huge canvas that demands discipline, diligence, alertness, imaginativeness, and creativity from students. Advertising and marketing are an inseparable part of media and therefore, an inseparable part of he BMM syllabus. Today, communication and media offer a wide range of jobs in print and electronic media. The advertising industry which is a multi-crore industry, is always on the hunt for new talents in areas like Client servicing, Copywriting, Ad designing, Layout Artists, Web Designing, Media Planning and Buying, Public Relation Management, Research, Radio Jockeying, News Broadcasting, Compering, Anchoring, Reporting, Editing, Freelance photography, Freelance Journalism, Column writing, Ad Film Making, Documentary Making, Program Coordinators on Television Channels etc. The list is endless and the course offers a challenge that every intelligently creative, dynamic and enterprising youth is looking out for.

Ordinance and regulation relating to the degree course in Bachelor of Mass Media (B.M.M) (University Of Mumbai - Circular No.UG/251 of 2003 dated 16th June 2003) O.5205: TITLE: The degree shall be titled as Bachelor of Mass Media (B.M.M.)

1) To provide students with a firm grounding in studies related to various mass media through understanding society’s diverse cultural foundations and stimulate social responsibility.
2) To develop critical thinking, creativity and personal integrity.

: A candidate for being eligible for admission to the degree course in Bachelor of Mass Media must have passed XII std. Examination of the Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent from Science, Arts or Commerce Stream.

The course shall be a full-time course. The duration of the course is 3 years and each year consists of two Semesters. First Year Bachelor of Mass Media Consists of Semester I and II, Second year consists of Semester III and IV; Third year consists of Semesters V and VI.
Seats available 60.
The course shall consist of 36 theory papers.
A student can choose between the Advertising or Journalism groups while getting admitted into Semester V (Third Year). The student will however not be permitted to change the group in Semester VI.
Each paper will consist of four lectures per week. The duration of each lecture will be 50 minutes.
Also note that students of self finance courses will have dress code for Presentations, Seminars and Recruitment purpose.
