E-waste Disposal
E-waste or Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipments are loosely discarded, surplus, obsolete, broken, electrical or electronic devices. Electronic equipments contain many hazardous metallic contaminants such as lead, cadmium, and beryllium and brominated flame-retardants. The hazardous nature of e-waste is one of the rapidly growing environmental problems of the world.
The ever-increasing amount of e-waste associated with the lack of awareness and appropriate skill is deepening the problem. With the objective of raising awareness about this issue, Department of CS/IT has taken the initiative of E-waste Club activities under the guidance of IQAC from 2017.
The objectives of this club include: Spreading awareness in society, awareness among students by conducting quiz and research paper presentation, collecting e-waste from departments, faculties, students and e-waste disposal to TMC (Thane Municipal Corporation).
Every year we are giving E-waste to TMC. Satish Pradhan Dnyanasadhana College has collected 198.60 kg. of E-waste in the year 2019 and 214.65 kg. of E-waste in the year 2020 and collected 272.15 kg. of E-waste in the year 2021. All this E-waste is submitted to TMC for proper recycling of it. Satish Pradhan Dnyanasadhana College has been awarded with certificate from TMC for enthusiastic participation in E-waste collection and management drive by TMC.
Rainwater Harvesting
The College has made rain water harvesting arrangements. Terrace of the college building is used as rain water capturing area. The terrace area is 504square meter. The amount of rainwater received every year varies. Water collected is connected to outlet pipes which are joined to the bore well. The water collected in this recharge well is used for gardening and non drinking purpose.
