Overview

Satish Pradhan Dnyanasadhana College, named after its Founder President, the legendary First Mayor of Thane city, and the champion behind many prized landmarks in the Lake City, is a prestigious institute dedicated to the field of academics from the year 1980. With a humble beginning of two score students, the esteemed institute has grown into a leading campus with the largest number of Commerce students in Thane city that houses courses right from HSC to PhD. With the ever increasing brood of students at present, the priority of SPDC has always been on creating collaborative, inclusive learning environment. Similarly, self-financed Commerce courses like Bachelors in Management Studies, Accounting and Finance, Banking and Insurance, Mass Media, CS and IT have seen a huge turnover in the last 4 decades. SPDC also boasts of being a centre for the Fifth Open University in the country, the prestigious Yashwantrao Chavan Open University completing 25 long years in the institution.

Infrastructurally, the campus has 23 academic departments, 51 classrooms, well equipped library with more than 79,000 books, 85 journals and a student capacity of 300, a sprawling audio visual room, an open auditorium, 9 seminar halls, 2 conference rooms, sports facility, gymnasium, 18 laboratories, 410 computers, CCTV enabled campus, solar powered system, rain water harvesting system, botanical and vertical garden, self-sufficient cafeteria and more. Moreover, students will find the company of warm and friendly teachers with an unparalleled academic record which is further nurtured through an enviable research culture.

SPDC also offers a plethora of highly personalised learning through add-on capacity building courses like Tally, DTP, Public Speaking, English Speaking, Yoga, Web Designing, Photography, 2D Flash, Cyber Law, Digital Marketing, Stock Gyan Through Live Trading and Travel and Tourism, to name a few.

Besides, the students at SPDC have been in the spotlight through participation in various extension activities like Literary, Sports, Cultural, NCC, NSS and Science, Exhibitions, Lecture Series by eminent personalities and much more. The accolades they have won at inter-collegiate and University level competitions is a cogent evidence of their competence.

Meanwhile, in its mission to breed an inclusive and socially responsible generation, SPDC has striven ceaselessly to break stereotypes and bring issues of the marginally disadvantaged sections through its special endeavour named the ‘Being Me’ project.

Through ‘Being Me’, students are exposed to ideas of gender diversity, healthy living, and unconditional compassion through seminars and conferences of national and international repute.

Career-wise, SPDC offers openings through campus interviews and is also proud to employ 20 of its beneficiaries in the institution in both teaching and non-teaching departments.
