In 2006, His Excellency Shri. S.M. Krishna, the then Governor of Maharashtra, launched a ground-breaking initiative aimed at nurturing and celebrating research talent across the state. This initiative, known as the Avishkar Research Convention, stands as a testament to his commitment to advancing education, research, and innovation in Maharashtra. In an attempt to boost the number of gifted students from both urban and rural areas, Satish Pradhan Dnyanasadhana College, Thane has made extra efforts. Extra efforts were made to set up contests, provide these kids specialized instruction, and provide them the support and direction they needed to improve their capacity to present their work effectively. Students are getting quite excited about this activity, and the number of participants is growing.
The Aavishkar Research Project Competition was conceived with the objective of creating a dynamic platform for students, researchers, and academicians to showcase their innovative research projects. It aims to encourage a culture of research and innovation at the grassroots level by providing opportunities for young minds to present their work and gain recognition. The Office of the Chancellor has started four significant events for the benefit of the student community in various sectors, which makes the young of Maharashtra State very proud. Among those, the most esteemed is the Aavishkar, a State Level Inter-University Research Convention.
The Chancellor's office organizes "Aavishkar" each year with the aim of giving young people from different universities a platform and offering assistance in understanding the research mindset and gaining scientific knowledge, ultimately transforming for the benefit of development.
The University's Department of Students' Development created the Avishkar Research Convention. In order to foster a research culture and a scientific temperament among students, academics, and instructors in the state of Maharashtra, from undergrad to doctorate, the Department of Students' Development at the University of Mumbai developed the Aavishkar Research Convention. Along with aiding in skill development, the activity also attempts to review hitherto untapped research fields and provide new perspectives to already explored knowledge domains. It is our joint duty to raise awareness of the convention among educators and students and to give them the courage to do research.

Showcase Talent: To provide a stage for showcasing innovative projects and research findings across various disciplines.
Encourage Collaboration: To foster collaboration among institutions, researchers, and industries for impactful research outcomes.

The Avishkar Research Project Competition is structured to engage participants at various levels:
District Level: Initial rounds are conducted at the district level, where participants present their projects and are evaluated by local experts. Outstanding projects from these rounds advance to higher levels of competition.
University Level: Successful projects from the district level progress to the university level, where they are presented before a panel of academic and industry experts. This stage involves rigorous evaluation and feedback.
State Level: The best projects from the university level are showcased at the state level competition. This grand stage provides an opportunity for participants to gain statewide recognition and connect with a broader audience.

Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals: Awarded to the top projects at the state level.

Best Research Paper Award: For outstanding research papers presented during the competition.
Special Jury Awards: For projects that show exceptional promise or address critical issues.
Since its inception, Avishkar has become a prestigious platform for research and innovation in Maharashtra. It has inspired countless students and researchers to pursue excellence in their fields and contribute to the advancement of knowledge. The competition has also fostered a spirit of collaboration and community engagement, bridging gaps between academia, industry, and society.
